Sunday School Picnic Date
The Sunday School staff has set the date for their annual picnic. The picnic will be held May 22, 2005. Breaking from tradition, the picnic will e held on the church grounds directly following the worship service.
We would like to invite the community to join us for Sunday School and church, as well as the picnic that afternoon. Food, gospel singing, games and much more are free and everyone is invited to attend.
Condolences
Grassy Freewill Baptist would like to express our condolences to the families of Utie Collins, Charlie Honaker, and Bertha Chapman. They will be missed by all in our community.
What’s Your Choice?
Larry Goff, Assistant Pastor
I have been asked to write this letter to you. So, do I say something to make you feel good and secure in the lifestyle you are living or do I tell you the truth in hope of causing you to do some soul searching and see where you stand with THE ALMIGHTY GOD.
You’re OK, we’re OK, everyone is OK. This is the story that Satan wants everyone to believe and accept. It doesn’t matter what you do because God will look at you and say you’re OK, but this is exactly opposite of what God has to say. In Romans 3:10, God says “as it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one.” So in reading this verse we find that we have been lied to, and to follow this, GOD says that Satan is a liar and the father of it (John 8:44). Seeing that we have been lied to and believing the lies has condemned us to eternal death in the Lake of Fire, where there will be weeping, wailing, and gnashing of teeth. We need a great Saviour to save us.
Some will come along and say, “well, I just don’t believe all that nonsense,” but God said “For what if some did not believe? Shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?” (Rom 3:3). Your disbelief will not change God’s word or his judgement that is to come.
Some will say, “I’m just as good as God wants me to be,” but God says in the Psalms of David “the fool hath said in his heart, ther is no god. They are corrupt, they have done abdominable works, there is none that doeth good.” So if God says that none are good, and all of our good deeds are as filthy rags, where does that leave us?
We are in need of a Saviour of our souls. God created our souls to live eternal so our choice is where are we going to spend eternity–in heaven and walk on streets of gold praising and worshiping our God OR are we going to spend eternity in the Lake of Fire with Satan and his angels.
God loved us more than I can even begin to say because He sent His son Jesus to come here and die a cruel death in order to reconcile us back to Him.
We find in God’s word that He made a simple plan for our salvation. In Romans 10:9-10 God says “that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart, man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
We are saved by our faith in God and what Jesus did for us on the cross, not because of something we did. But, we do have a choice where we will spend eternity.
What is your choice? God loves you and wants you to be with Him, so may I encourage you to accept His love and live for Him. Seek out a Bible teaching and preaching church and live for the Lord Jesus.
May God bless you and keep you and wrap his loving arms around you and protect you.
