Octoberfest Success

On October 9, Grassy FWB held our third annual Octoberfest on the church parking lot. Around 200 people were present to enjoy the activities that afternoon.

The Johns Creek Chapter of the DAV was present for a flag raising ceremony and dedication of a new flagpole, shrubbery, and plaque honoring area veterans. The flag raised during the ceremony had flown over Afghanistan during battle in the War on Terror and was recently donated to the church.

The late Dollie Brown, who taught generations of families, was remembered for her contribution to our community. Her influence on local children is still felt today. In honor of Mrs. Brown, a proclamation was read declaring Octoberfest 2004 as “Dollie G. Brown Day.”

The Christmas Story

Luke 2:8-16

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them and the glory of the Lord shone round about them; and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, “Fear not, for behold I bring you good tidings of great joy which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be sign unto you: you shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men.”

And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, “Let us go to Bethlehem and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord has made known unto us.” And they came with haste and found Mary, Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.

Bus Driver Recognized

We would like to take this opportunity to recognize an important part of our Sunday School team. Each Sunday our church bus runs in our community to pick up boys and girls who attend Sunday School.

We are blessed to have dedicated people who are willing drive the bus each Sunday. Our bus drivers are Ronnie Huffman, Andy Adams, Anna Margaret Charles, Sandy Campbell, Ronnie Webb, and Billy May. Brother Bill Slone coordinates the bus schedule and makes sure a driver is ready to drive each Sunday.

If you need transportation to Sunday School or church services, call the church and leave a message at 437-7289.
