Everyone invited to attend!
Construction
We at the Grassy Church are very proud of the progress of the construction of the new church. The exterior is almost complete. We are expecting to have it completed sometime around October. The new church will seat around 300 people. We are also going to have new Sunday School rooms and a very large Youth Hall for our teenagers. If you have not had a chance to see the progress of the new church, we invite you to stop by and look at it.
The Lord has blessed us to build this beautiful church. When it is completed, we invite you to come out and see God’s work. The Lord has allowed us to build this for our community, not just for our members.
A special thanks also goes out to the Dusty Varney Construction Team for a job well done.
Nursing Home Ministry
We at the Grassy Church visit the Pikeville Healthcare Center once a month. We sing, do crafts with the patients, and provide a “goody bag” each visit. We also do special visits with the ones unable to participate in the crafts. This is a very uplifting ministry. If you would be interested in joining us, please contact Pam Coleman (433-1131) or leave a message at the church.
Gospel Singing
We will be having a benefit singing at the Grassy Church on August 20th at 7 pm. Joanne Coleman will be singing, as well as Forgiven Heart from the Cornerstone Freewill Baptist Church. We will be serving refreshments and dessert following the singing. Please come out and enjoy a evening of gospel singing and fellowship with friends and family. If you have any questions, please call Emery Slone (432-2948), Gary Coleman (433-1131), or leave a message at the church.
Fourth Annual Octoberfest
Our Sunday School will be hosting our fourth annual Octoberfest on October 1, 2005.
Beginning at noon on the church parking lot, we will have a program filled with activities for the young and young-at-heart. We will not only play new games but also play some of our favorites from past Octoberfests.
We hope you will be able to help us celebrate another harvest and all of God’s blessings. Nearly 200 people attended last year’s Octoberfest, and we would love to have even more this year!
All of the singing, food, and games are free to all!! We’ll be looking for you on October 1, 2005 from noon until 4pm on the church parking lot!
Condolences
We would like to express our sympathy to the families of Archie Charles, Ralph Anderson, Heath Collins, Ronnie M. Slone, Ida Justice, and Sister Belle Bolden. With the passing of our neighbors, the face of our community changes forever.
Rural Schools to Hold Reunion
Frozen Creek, Goff, Head of Coon, Grassy, and many more rural schools will hold a reunion September 3, 2005 at the Frozen Creek Old Regular Baptist Church from 12 noon until 6 pm.
Please bring a covered dish, drinks, and photos to share with others. For more information, call Judy Smith at 437-9536.
Thanks Ladies
Throughout the past several years our Sunday school has received assistance from the ladies auxiliary.
The ladies auxiliary has been very helpful to the Sunday school department by helping with activities such as our picnics, Octoberfest, and the Raise the Flag project.
Our Sunday School appreciates the auxiliary’s help in making our activities successful. Thanks, auxiliary, for your support of Sunday School.
